You can become a top 10% copywriter by simply following these 10 fundamentals.
You don’t need to read 100s of books, videos, or podcasts of copywriting, you need basics, and this is where I shine “BASICS.”
Here are 10 copywriting fundamentals (you can use immediately) to improve your writing:
1. The Problem
Your readers have a specific problem.
Something that makes them feel bad every single time they experience it.
It can be feeling ashamed of their body or,
They are super stressed about a job they don’t like
Now. Here’s the exciting part.
People don’t want your product, and they want their problem solved.
They want to stop feeling shame when their clothes don’t fit them.
They want satisfaction while they’re at work.
Your goal as a copywriter is to find that problem.
And show your reader how your product will solve it.
Don’t sell a product. Sell a solution to their problem.
2. Benefits, not features
This one connects to the problem rule.
People don't care about the features.
They don’t care what specs a computer may have.
They don’t care what specific exercises a fitness program has.
They want a computer that won’t get hung in every second.
They want something to help them get a 6-pack while keeping their daily routine.
Sell the benefits, not the features.
6. Specificity
Every single word you write. Ask yourself, “Is it specific enough to talk to someone specific?”
If not - rewrite.
Let me show you another example:

Which one is more appealing to you?
Choose wisely!
3. Write as you speak
A lot of people get this part wrong.
The whole idea is having a conversation in writing.
Because that’s how you would talk to your friend.
Right?
Don’t think that you need to write like a scientific paper.
There’s a reason why “normal” people don’t read scientific papers. It’s boring.
So here’s how you do this:
Write for ONE reader.
Write as one person (“I,” “me,” and “you”)
Talk like you’re having a conversation with a friend
This tweet is a prime example.
5. Use active verbs
Verbs are the most important of all your tools.
Use active verbs. They push the sentence forward and give it momentum.
On the other hand, try to avoid using passive verbs. It's long, ambiguous & will sap the energy of readers.

4. Mood changers
Learn to alert your reader & never be afraid to start the sentence with “But.”
There’s no stronger word at the start.
It announces total contrast with what has gone before.
Avoid the words like:
Really, literally, very, that, absolutely, just.
You can also use dozens of words like - however, still, instead, now, therefore, today, etc.
It helps your reader to connect where you left them in the previous sentence.

7. Little qualifiers
Good writing should be lean & confident.
Don’t use words like - pretty much, sort of, kind of, very, etc.
Be confident, Be clear, and Be depressed.
Readers want a writer who believes in himself & in what he is saying.
Don’t be kind of bold. Be bold.

8. Credibility
Your writing requires a person in it.
Because the readers
can't visualize anybody performing some activity.
Look at this picture below:
It has no people, no active verbs, only "is" or "isn't."
Turn these cold sentences around & get people to do the things.

9. Rewriting
Writing is an evolving process, not a finished product.
Nobody expects you to get it right the first time or even the second time.
You can play with your sentences as much as you can until you get them right.
Here’s how you can rewrite it:

10. Dictation
Read your article aloud from beginning to end. You will know where you lost as a reader.
Make your statements more specific
Make sure every single "what" has a "why."
For every claim, make sure the solution is clear
is there any terms your reader might not understand? Delete it.
Trust your material & post it.
That's all for today.
